Priorities

There are 3 main priorities on which this project relies:

  1. Promoting inter – connected higher education systems: proposed project in all of its aspects: results, activities of learning, training, teaching and the selection of project target groups will aim to strengthen the strategic and structured cooperation between partnering higher education institutions. Improvement of teachers’ digital and pedagogical and professional competencies, acquisition of special practical knowledge and strengthening of institutional connections will result in the necessary harmonisation at the level of partnering institutions, which will directly contribute to better inter-connected higher education. In addition, newly developed learning materials for students and teachers, primarily to be used in higher education, will also be applicable in secondary schools and adult (long-learning) education. Furthermore, developed online learning materials and student assignments covering international and national marine law regulations created within project will be published online, thus promoting virtual cooperation and the use of different available digital tools and online platforms.
  2. Stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices: this priority is addressed by teachers of maritime law at maritime HEIs who will create an innovative approach to education in order to adapt the extensive subject of maritime law to people with primarily technical knowledge, who are experts in law. Project will develop new learning outcomes and student-centred curricula that will better meet the learning needs of students and reduce skills mismatches, while also being relevant for the seafarers’ labour market. Since all project results will be open and accessible for any user without any limitation it will also target seafarers participating in lifelong learning activities at the partnering and other maritime HEI’s who re no longer in the formal education system thus promoting the lifelong learning dimension of higher education. Project will inspire the development of digital teachers’ competencies by encouraging teachers to participate in virtual workshops and engaging them in online workshops thus promoting collaborative online international learning and research-based learning.
  3. Environment and measures against climate change (addressing SDGs): project will contribute to the third priority in all newly developed learning materials and planned education and training activities, with the aim of enabling behavioural changes, implementing additional cultural values and bringing awareness about environmental problems that today’s world is faced with. By addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution of the oceans and other ecosystem threats, project will incorporate measures and procedures against such challenges within the learning and teaching processes.
